For LegalArt’s next SeminArt, Co-founder and Executive Director George Scheer will discuss the programs and opportunities of being Elsewhere!
Based in downtown Greensboro, Elsewhere is a living museum and artist residency set inside a former thrift store. Elsewhere offers a unique site for artists from around the world to create site-specific works with and within a set of material resources that engage local publics.
During his SeminArt, Scheer will shed light on:
-Elsewhere’s formation and conceptual grounding
-The residency program
-The evolving role of the Museum Art & Civic Building
-Alternative models for public process
-Opportunities for Miami Artists to go Elsewhere
About the Presenter:
As a writer and artist, George Scheer creates at intersections of art and social change, politics, and system thinking. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Communication and Performance Studies at UNC-Chapel Hill, and holds an MA in Critical Theory and Visual Culture from Duke University and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Political Communications.
