Art Pharmacology

LegalArt and Art Practical presented a series of talks exploring the attributes that define the visual arts culture in Miami. Using Renny Pritkin’s “Prescription for a Healthy Art Scene,” each talk focused on a different aspect of our cultural scene. The conversations were led by Art Practical writers and editors, and held at different cultural venues throughout Miami.

Art Pharmacology Prescriptions:
-Where does the art community gather? A comment on Miami’s regular meeting spots, event venues and cultural spaces. Led by Kara Smith.

-Growing an art publication ecosystem. Led by Matt Sussman

-The Capital of Caribbean Cool: Contemporary Caribbean Diasporic Artists in Miami. Led by Crystal Nelson, and guest speakers Charo Oquet, Leyden Rodriguez, and Eddie Arroyo

We want to extend our gratitude to our community for making each of these talks a compelling one, and to each of the hosting venues: Sweat Records, Lester’s, David Castillo Gallery and Locust Projects.

Stay tuned for the November issue of Art Practical, which will result from the encounters and conversations that each AP member had during their Residency at LegalArt.
