A lecture and Q&A led by attorneys Nicole Milson and Sandra Newmeyer

Created in response to frequent inquiries to LegalArt from artists in the community, this SeminArt promises a clear vision of what artists should do to legally protect their practice in the following areas:

Intellectual Property

- What ideas and works are protectable?
- What is the difference between copyright and trademark, and how can you do it yourself?
-What is “fair use”?

Contracts
-When do you need one?
-What elements should always be included?
-What wording should you avoid or look out for?

About the Presenters
Nicole Milson and Sandra Newmeyer led LegalArt’s LegalLink Program during 2011-2012.
At this unique SeminArt, a distinguished panel of artists representing several disciplines will discuss the different creative–and legal–ways that they bring in income aside from traditional sales of artwork. The panel will outline how their side jobs bring new opportunities and perspectives to their art practice and give them a sense of goodwill, community and civic engagement. The panel will also share tips on time management and how to balance numerous projects. The artists participating in this panel are entrepreneurial and inventive. Their renaissance-man (and woman) spirits will inspire you to think outside the box about Creative Ways to Make Living.

Panelists will answer your specific questions at the end of the program. Stick around to meet other artists and community leaders—LegalArt SeminArts are great networking opportunities!
