Local Residency

The 2012 application cycle is now closed.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2013 LegalArt Residency. South Florida artists are eligible to apply for the Local Artist Residency. Local Artists will live and work in the space for 11 1/2 months from February 1, 2013 until January 15, 2014. The subsidized cost of the studios per month is only $450 and includes all utilities and full use of the space. This program is an incubator, designed to help artists reach a new level in their practice. Incubator programming includes goal setting, contract law, copyright and intellectual property law, incorporation, how to cultivate collectors and curators, public speaking, and grant writing.

This application is reserved for local Miami artists. All applications must follow the image specifications and fill in all application information.

Deadline for Entries on September 2, 2012.
Notification of Jury Results on November 19, 2012.

  • Artist Statement
  • Resume/CV

Please submit one PDF including the following items:

  • Short Bio: Please format in paragraph form.
  • Cover Letter: Please describe your interest in the LegalArt Residency, why you should be selected, information on any specific projects you would like to work on during the residency, and whether you are a member of LegalArt
  • Professional References: Please provide contact information for two references.
  • Special Skills: Description of special skills you can provide to give back to the community (i.e. technical ability with computers, equipment, organizational skills, etc.).

Image Specifications

Please follow the image specification below:

  • Number of Images: 10 images total.
  • Dimensions: 1920 x 1920 pixel.
  • File Format: Save all images as .jpg files.
  • File Size: Files must be under 1.8 mb.
  • Color space: Save images in RGB format.

You can have a maximum of two video or audio files–these cannot be longer than three minutes and count as an image entry (2 videos, 8 images or 1 video, 9 images allowed).

If literary, please submit two writing samples totaling no more than 100 lines of poetry or 2,500 words of prose.
